When you are finding a girlfriend after losing a loved one it can be pretty difficult at first. You will want to find a person that is understanding and patient and a person that can be respectful of what you are going through. It is important that you allow enough time to pass where you have had time to heal and time to sort through your feelings.
Go Slow
It is important that you don’t jump into a relationship too quickly and that you allow this relationship time to grow. If you don’t give it enough time you can really end up only doing damage to yourself and hurting the person that you are currently with. It is also important that you don’t try to rush the relationship. You will find that whenever you are hurting or missing somebody that you will want to find comfort in any way that you can. This can lead you to make a relationship move too quickly and lead to things falling apart just as quickly.
Have Realistic Expectations
It can be really easy to have expectations that are too high for a person after you have suffered a tragedy. You will have to make sure that you understand that this person is not there to replace anybody and that they are only human. This means that you have to understand that they can only do so much to help you and can only do so much to take the pain away. Whenever you are able to wrap your head around the fact that a new relationship is not going to be a quick fix, then you are ready to get into one.
